We imagine a future where volunteerism is woven into the infrastructure of our city — where service builds bridges across difference, nonprofits are empowered to multiply their impact, and neighborhoods are transformed into close knit communities.

The Volunteer Leadership Lab builds a culture of service by partnering directly with nonprofits to strengthen their volunteer programs from the inside out; operating the ILM Volunteer Hub to connect every corner of our community to meaningful volunteer opportunities; developing civic leaders and neighborhood changemakers who carry that culture into the places where people live; and publishing the annual Volunteer Impact Report to measure progress, inspire action, and make the case for volunteerism as essential community infrastructure.
