Our mission is to advance, connect, and empower an integrated humanitarian nonprofit community. Our vision is to be a safe, collaborative, and spiritual environment where humanitarian nonprofits thrive to powerfully impact our community

Jo Ann Carter Harrelson Center Inc. is a North Carolina nonprofit corporation 501c3 (EIN 20-3598248) that supports and partners with other nonprofit organizations in the Wilmington community.

The Center works with its partners to meet the needs of the community in areas such as safe and affordable housing, education, employment, health care and family support.

The Center recognizes the critical needs of others and encourages, uplifts and assists them in rebuilding their lives through the services provided in the center.

The Center provides its nonprofit partners social and educational opportunities, marketing and promotions, volunteer recruitment and a place of collaboration for them to help those in need in our community.

The Center supports its partners with below-market rental rates that cover all utilities, parking and security. This synergistic environment allows all the nonprofits to operate more efficiently and better utilize their funding.

First Tuesday & Third Thursday Every Month — 12 to 1 p.m. Touring the Center is a great way to learn about what we do, meet our partners, check out the transformation of the old jail tower, and find out more about volunteer opportunities!

Parking Information

Street Parking Options: Parking is FREE on 5th Street for one hour, Monday-Friday. Metered two-hour spaces are available on Princess Street for $2.50 an hour. Enforced Monday-Friday 9:00 to 5:00 pm. Pay-by-phone instructions are listed on each meter and on the city website. The parking meters also accept coins.

Parking Deck Options: There are two parking decks within three blocks of The Harrelson Center. 2nd Street Parking Deck at 114 N. 2nd St. – first 30 minutes are free. $1.00 an hour thereafter. 115 Market Street – first 30 minutes is free. $1.00 an hour thereafter

Visitor Parking Spaces: Ten visitor parking spaces are available in our garage. Enter from 4th Street, immediately turn right; all 10 visitor spaces are clearly marked along the left side.
