Community Justice Center

Who We Are

The Community Justice Center of New Hanover County offers a comprehensive, coordinated network of law enforcement, nonprofit organizations, and social service providers under one roof. We serve victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, elder abuse, child abuse, and at-risk youth. Our goal is to minimize the burden on victims by reducing the number of times they must re-tell their story and travel for services.

What We Do

The Community Justice Center (CJC) is a "one-stop shop" for victims of youth violence, domestic violence, elder abuse, and sexual assault. Guests at the CJC have access to a variety of resources to help with both immediate needs and long-term support on their path to hope, healing, and justice. The criminal justice system can be confusing and intimidating for people in crisis. The CJC aims to be a place where victims are welcomed and supported by our nonprofit and law enforcement partners in a safe and welcoming environment. Guests at the CJC receive coordinated and comprehensive care, regardless of their background.

At the CJC, guests can: file a Domestic Violence Protective Order with the Court, connect with advocates from local partner agencies, speak with members of law enforcement, meet with medical staff to review and document injuries, appear before a Judge via secure video link, and let their children play in our designated children's area while they meet with an intake navigator
