Rescue Mission of Cape Fear

Who We Are

The Rescue Mission of Cape Fear is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has served men experiencing homelessness in Wilmington, NC and the greater Cape Fear region for more than 51 years. Founded in 1974, we are one of the oldest and most established homeless service providers in New Hanover County. We are located at 502 Castle Street in downtown Wilmington and operate a Christ-centered, long-term residential recovery program.

What We Do

We provide emergency shelter, long-term residential recovery programming, nutritious meals, case management, financial literacy education, job readiness training, and spiritual support to men experiencing homelessness, addiction, and life instability. Our structured 6–12 month residential program houses up to 16 men at a time and serves 40–60 men annually. We provide more than 14,000 nutritious meals each year and achieve outcomes including a 60%+ program completion rate, 75% of graduates placed in stable employment, and 70% placed in permanent housing upon exit. Volunteers support our work through meal service, mentoring, donation sorting, facility upkeep, job readiness assistance, and community events.
