ABOUT THIS ROLE
The ILM Volunteer Hub lives in the lobby of the Harrelson Center, a building that serves as a gateway to nonprofit services for a wide cross-section of New Hanover County residents. Many people passing through are there to access those services. But many are also looking for a way to give back, to connect, to find their place in the community. The Hub Ambassador’s job is to be a kind, approachable presence who recognizes those people and opens a door for them.
Your focus is specifically on people who are curious about volunteering or who stop at the ILM Volunteer Hub table. Volunteers in this role staff a table near the building entrance during set weekly hours, representing the ILM Volunteer Hub with warmth, knowledge, and good judgment about when and how to engage.

TIME COMMITMENT
This role requires a consistent weekly commitment during the hub’s set open hours. Exact days and times will be confirmed prior to launch and coordinated with your availability. Shifts are typically 2–4 hours. Reliability is the most important quality for this role — the hub table is only as valuable as the consistency of the person staffing it.
Note: Before your first shift, you’ll receive a thorough orientation covering our mission and programs, a full walkthrough of the Get Connected platform, guidance on how to engage visitors, and clear protocols for anything outside your scope. You will always have a direct line to the Executive Director during your shift.
WHAT YOU’LL GAIN
A front-row seat to the diversity of people and needs flowing through one of Wilmington’s most active nonprofit hubs
Experience in community engagement, nonprofit operations, and volunteer coordination
Deep familiarity with the ILM Volunteer Hub platform and the partner organizations on it
A verified volunteer record and VLL recognition as a founding launch team member
