Canines for Service

Who We Are

Our mission is to inspire veterans through life-changing canine partnerships. Canines for Service is a nationally accredited nonprofit dedicated to transforming the lives of Veterans through custom-trained service dog partnerships. Founded in 1996, we are the longest-running ADI-accredited service dog provider in North Carolina, and one of just 91 accredited organizations in North America. More than our credentials, we’re known for our compassion, commitment, and customized approach. ach dog is trained for one specific Veteran. That’s why we call it a partnership, not a placement. Once someone joins the Canines for Service family, they’re with us for life including access to successor dogs when the time comes. Our goal is simple: help Veterans reclaim their independence, rebuild their confidence, and reconnect with life—one dog at a time.

What We Do

We train service dogs for veterans with service-connected PTSD, MST, TBI, and/or mobility limitations. Our dogs go to the veterans at no cost or fundraising obligation to them. We place dogs anywhere in the contiguous US.
